After a few hours at the Apartheid Museum you will feel as though you were in the townships in the 70's and '80's, dodging police bullets or teargas canisters, or marching and toyi-toyiing with thousands of school children, or carrying the body of a comrade into a nearby house.

This extraordinarily powerful museum, capturing one of history's most fascinating and tragic eras, is certain to become one of Johannesburg's most important tourist attractions and has become an obligatory stop for tourists and residents alike.

This is the only museum of its kind in South Africa. It provides a nucleus of museum and military history expertise in southern Africa. During the First World War (1914 - 1918) many of the belligerent nations went to great lengths to collect and preserve the role of their soldiers during that conflict. At the conclusion of the war, Britain established, by statute, the Imperial War Museum, as a memorial to the effort and sacrifice made by the men and women of the Empire, during the war. South Africa had played a role during that war on the side of the Allies. However, the state neglected to preserve a record of this role in the form of a museum and, unfortunately, much of the material heritage relating to this period was dispersed.

This failure was recognised because in 1940, shortly after South Africa's entry in to the Second World War (1939 - 1945) Capt. J. Agar-Hamilton was appointed Official Historian of the Union Defence Forces. Capt. Agar-Hamilton then formed a Historical Research Committee to ensure the preservation of documents and materials of military interest, therefore laying the foundation for the eventual establishment of a museum.

This is an experience of unparalleled elegance where you'll see the world stretched out before you, on a gentle balloon ride through the clouds. It's sunrise. The silence is only punctuated by the occasional blast of the powerful burners and the faint call of a bird or animal far beneath. This is an elite safari that'll give you a bird’s eye view of the world. Sip on champagne as you hover gently above the treetops, or soar high above the mountain peaks.

Hot tea, coffee and biscuits are served whilst you watch the crews prepare the huge colourful balloons for flight in the calm and stable morning air. Once you're up there, you'll know that this is the closest thing to heaven known to man, the magical experience of lazily drifting with the wind in a hot air balloon, on a safari across over the beautiful countryside bordering Gauteng and North-West Province. There, from the slowly moving vantage of the balloon, you will experience the 360° wrap-around panorama of the Magalies River Valley and nearby Hartbeespoort Dam.

After landing, your ground crew will collect you and drive you back to our beautifully appointed country base where our catering staff will have freshly prepared a delectable champagne breakfast. You will also be awarded a citation for bravery, with due ceremony - after which you return home.

Grab your swimming kit and head for the Crocodile River, where you'll be taken on a wet workout that'll leave you breathless. Start your day with breakfast and then prepare for some seriously fun action, negotiating 18km of scenic river in a 2-man canoe. While you're drifting down the river, look out for the legavaans and birds that populate this area. A day trip covers 18 rapids, punctuated by a scrumptious picnic on the riverside at midday.

You will be negotiating the river on a 2-man inflatable and you will be accompanied by qualified river rafting guides. We can cater for groups up to 150 people. This is a full day experience. Bring a swimming costume and lace-up shoes that will get wet - as well as a towel and a change of clothing for afterwards. If you have a wetsuit, bring it along. Glasses should be either removed or firmly secured.

Magaliesberg Canopy Tours is a unique eco-adventure that takes people on an exhilarating 2.5-hour tour within the ancient Magaliesberg Mountains. Ten platforms have been built within the cliffs and rock faces of the mountain and clients, with full body harnesses and pulleys, slide between each platform along a sturdy steel cable.

Trained guides ensure the safety of each group while, at the same time, describing interesting facts about the surrounding fauna, flora and ecology. The Magaliesberg Canopy Tour is the third of its kind in South Africa and offers a perfect blend of adrenalin (on the slides) and tranquillity (enjoying the views from each platform). It is the ideal activity for nature lovers, groups, families and corporate teambuilding events.

Sandboarding is one of newest and most exciting outdoor sports but this adventure is very similar to snowboarding - so it's really not as new as people think! There are accounts of the ancient Egyptians using clay and wooden boards to surf down the great dunes of the Sahara - we don't have snow, but we can offer you tons of great sand!

So if you feel the need for speed, adrenalin and thrills and just a whole lot of fun, join us and our instructors, who will strap you down, get the blood rushing through your veins, and at the end of the day you will be gliding over the sand, addicted to the thrill of sandboarding.

Let your first skydive be a simple joyride. Tandems are the fastest, safest way to introduce you to freefall. After only a few minutes of instruction, you'll be ready to do a tandem jump any day of the week. You'll enjoy a 10 to 20 minute scenic ride in a carpeted King Air or Cessna 206. At the dizzying height of 11 000ft, you will exit the aircraft attached by harness to your instructor. From there, you'll plunge into the rush of a 50 second freefall.

Once your parachute has opened you'll begin a 6-minute decent with all the time in the world to take in the most amazing views - while your instructor steers you safely back to earth. Tandem skydiving introduces the complete novice to the thrills of freefall, unlike static-line skydiving. With tandem skydiving you will be attached to the front of an internationally certified instructor. There are four connection points between you and the instructor, and combined they are strong enough to hold a small car.
